in need of a bedtime

my sleep schedule needs some major reworking. i am finding it harder and harder to go to bed at a decent hour. with an endless amount of homework and grad school research and gre studying to do, i can't seem to find a stopping place and simply call it a night. last semester, i did a sleep down. basically, i started setting bedtimes and each week i would move up the time 30 minutes until i was going to sleep at 11:30pm every night (which is not too shabby for a college student). somewhere over the course of the summer the bedtime faded away. a couple things i try to do are have tea before bed and cutoff any visual media an hour before bed, but sometimes that's just not enough.
what do you do when you need to sleep but you can't keep your mind off of all the things that you need to do?

  1. Oh this is such a beautiful looking bedroom! when i can't sleep I get up and make a list. It sounds like you are crazy busy right now. I hope things calm down for you soon xx

  2. I wish I had the same problem--I am lucky if I can stay up past 12! Have you tried melatonin?

  3. oh i so relate to this, unfortunately. it's almost impossible for me to fall asleep before 11 or 11:30 even when I'm exhausted. I wish I had some advice. I take Motrin P.M. a couple times a week when I'm desperate for zombie sleep. I know that's purty bad though. :)

Oh, and I love the picture you used, too.

  4. I used to do the same thing! When in school I'd usually have a bed time...some times I'd stay up crazy late..but usually I'd try to be in bed so I didn't feel sleepy through classes, work, etc. I could take more time to appreciate the day. then during the summer I'd stay up til 2, wake up & go to work come home & sleep, then stay up. I've fallen back into that cycle only I've graduated! So summer break really means nothing! I have a 9-5 job & I need to get back on a bed time schedule!

(love the image in this post btw!)
