things just keep getting busier and busier around here! michael came to new york and surprised me on thursday. we had a wonderful time putting off homework and enjoying each other's company. on saturday we headed to boston. it was so awesome to have a bus buddy! it made the ride seem so much shorter. i guess the mild weather has kept the colors around longer because cambridge was beautiful! so many fall leaves on the ground! this week is already as crazy as the last few have been. only a week and a half til thanksgiving though! woohoo! i am greatly in need of a vacation.
1. my favorite new blog of the moment is roost.
2. something i am thankful for is my internship! i have heard so many horror stories about the life of an intern and i am so blessed to be in an office full of warm and gracious people.
3. something that made me laugh this week was the first wives club. i'm sure the other people on the bus hated me and michael because we were laughing out loud the whole time.
4. an item that is currently on my wish list is a knitting class at purl.
5. i am excited about the harvard yale game this coming weekend and thanksgiving in tennesse the next! i am so excited to get out of the city. that 24hr trip to boston just didn't cut it!
6. if i were a color i would be dark purple.
7. my favorite way to spend a chilly fall day is a breakfast date followed by some serious window shopping.
Let's have make it a great week!

while i was out...
i can't believe it has been almost two weeks since my last post. things have been crazy around here. last week, an old friend had a brain aneurism and passed away. it was quite a shock. at first, i spent all my time watching his facebook page for updates. then, when they finally let him go, i just stopped getting on the computer all together. i'm not really sure what to say about everything. i guess it will just take time to process...this weekend, i went to boston. we were supposed to go see candide and go on a fancy date and attend a 90's party but i started getting these terrible coughing fits and felt horrible so we spent the evening watching tv shows and eating thai food instead. well, yesterday, my cough turned into bronchitis so i've been in bed for the past two days.
all that to say, i have been on a much needed blogging break, but i hope to be back to normal soon! this weekend, michael and i are flying to meet my parents and brother in chicago to watch my daddy run in the chicago marathon. i am super excited to a) see my family and b) visit chicago for the first time!! if any of you have suggestions of places to visit, let me know!
here are some instagram photos from the past week and a half:
the weather has been much cooler and we have had quite a bit of rain. i love it! being sick is so much better when it is cool enough to curl up in bed will blankets and a giant sweatshirt.
8am french class doodle.
our thai date.homework in harvard square.
i spent over 11 hours on the bus this weekend. my back is still hurting!
sick day lunch date with molly. this is what just about every meal has looked like for the past couple days. luckily, i love soup!

snapshots: labor day weekend in cambridge
macaroons from france that michael brought back for me. they were so tasty!
+slightly salted caramel
+strawberry mint
+pistachio
+single source chocolate
gifts from africa.
the view from michael's new room. it is almost worth the five flights of stairs it takes to get up there!
we had several lovely walks over to the hotel where michael's parents were staying. i would move to cambridge just to walk by the charles every day. i usually make michael take the long way to get places so we can walk by the water. the foot bridges are so romantic!
look at that cutie and his silly face(:
one night, we went to a korean bbq, koreana, for dinner. it was amazing! they bring out so much food and cook the meat and veggies in the middle of the table. there's nothing more exciting than that!
once the meat is cooked, you can combine the other little dishes on the table to make lettuce wraps. they certainly give p.f. chang a run for their money!
like i said yesterday, i didn't take many pictures. i had a wonderful time just enjoying being with my honey and resting before getting back to crazy school life. i know it will be many months before we both have a homework free weekend again!
i started my internship today and, while i love to little one to pieces, it is nice to have a work-free week so i can get a handle on these 55hr weeks i'll have this semester. yay fall!

that one time i met audra mcdonald...
well, i am back from cambridge. i can’t even explain how wonderful it was to see michael. before this trip, we had seen each other a total of five days in the past four months. i’m sure we will make up for all that time apart this semester. we already have several little trips planned. in the excitement of seeing michael, and his parents coming to visit, i only took a few pictures and didn’t get on the computer for about five days! i’ll share the photos i do have tomorrow, but for today, i want to share a little story and a photo from yesterday:
my love of audra mcdonald is no secret. she is an incredibly talented performer and i have looked up to her since my mom brought home the ragtime soundtrack when i was nine. as i got older and begun studying musical theatre, i continued to admire her work. almost every song i was assigned at tisch, audra sang. this weekend we saw her in the american repertory theater performance of porgy and bess (which is moving to broadway this winter, if you don’t have a chance to see it in boston.) the show was wonderful! the talent was just incredible. audra mcdonald was divine, of course. after the show, michael wanted to wait and see if we could meet audra. there wasn’t really a stage door or anything like that so i told him we should just go. this is going to sound strange, but i didn’t really want to meet her face to face. i don’t know if it’s because i can be pretty shy or because she is not a part of my daily life so i want to keep a separation in my mind, but I was very opposed to the idea. we all headed to l.a. burdick for some macaroons and drinks.
about forty-five minutes later, we started heading back to michael’s room. who do you think was standing a few blocks down with a few of her fellow cast members? why, audra mcdonald, of course! i noticed her before michael did and told him, “do not say anything.”-using that certain look and tone of voice that he knows means business. well, his mom had spotted her as well. just as michael was telling her not to say anything, she yelled, “oh my goodness! you were so amazing in the show!!” then pointed to me, “can we get you to take a picture with her??” naturally, i froze. there was no avoiding it now. audra mcdonald, being the gracious, lovely woman that she is, gestured towards the three people with her (including norm lewis) and said that they were also in the show and would totally take a picture with me. norm lewis ushered me into the middle of them and told me it was my turn to be the star. audra mcdonald was super sweet, which just made me love her more. i remember her talking to me but i don’t exactly remember what she said. i’m not sure i even spoke the entire time. i just smiled, literally speechless. as we were saying goodbye, michael’s dad, who is usually pretty quiet, told audra, “she just loves you! she thinks you are amazing!! she sings all your songs!” as we crossed the street to get back on track, i assured them all that i was not *completely* embarrassed. in fact, i am really glad they ratted me out and we got the pictures (even though i had already sweated my makeup off). it was absolutely the highlight of my trip. sorry michael :)

(please note how excited she was to meet me in the second picture:)
